Rainbows

Rainbows are rare, which is why I will rush outside to catch a glimpse no matter the weather. My children are especially drawn to rainbows and are often the first to signal the alert! The stunning colors mysteriously emerge, sometimes while the rain still falls. These natural banners of hope can dissipate before I’m ready, yet they never disappoint. Rain is a gift we do not take for granted in this northern prairie landscape. Some years bring plenty, other years we witness drought. The hope we hold onto is for just enough moisture and sunshine to nourish life.
